Laboratory Technician

Job Description
Working 37.5 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday 12:00 - 20:00
Preparation and analysis of water samples utilising good laboratory practice.
Preparing and dispensing consumables
Undergo training and follow laboratory SOPs and Safe Systems of Work
Ensure samples received are handled in accordance with documented procedures, including attention to temperature control, storage and maintenance of sample integrity.
Maintenance of accurate and systematic records as detailed in the quality procedures.
Perform calibrations, daily checks and other quality related tasks as required.
Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
Report any anomalies or concerns to direct report.
Comply with Health and Safety procedures keeping the working environment clean and tidy
Maintenance of laboratory fittings and equipment as directed.
Ensure personal protective equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy.
Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.
All training provided in the role.
Qualifications
Essential
Maths, English, Chemistry or Biology at GCSE grade C or above or equivalent
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience in a fast paced working environment
Good laboratory skills and practices
Enthusiasm, energy and a driven outlook
Desirable
Degree in microbiology or related field
Knowledge of UKAS, ISO methods
One year’s laboratory experience.
Lean production principles
Experience of Laboratory electronic management systems
