Lead Art & Design Teacher

You will be the Lead Art & Design Technology teacher at a school that prides itself on preparing children for their lifelong journey ahead. Your students are coming to school for a safe space and have an abundance of pastoral care available to them and their families. The school is supported well by an Academy Trust with financial and human resources to be able to secure the best outcomes for pupils. The curriculum you deliver is clear and gives a great platform to design engaging lessons from, capturing the imagination of your students. In the Creative Arts you aim to build on different expertise each year that allows your pupils to gain different experiences and a broad knowledge of the subject using a wide range of media and techniques. You will work in 2D and 3D media, looking at a range of art movements and range of artists that inspire. The DT facilities and classrooms are outstanding, made up of four workshops, two wood/plastics bias, one electronics and one engineering space. A recently refurbished food room, two ICT suites (with 2D design and Autodesk Fusion installed), a CAD room with laser cutter and an Engineering space with MIG, TIG and Spot welders.

This secondary school is based in Birmingham and is recruiting a permanent Lead Art & DT Teacher (QTS). You will be teaching DT to KS3, KS4 & KS5 pupils & inspiring both them and your team to exceed their targets. You will contribute to the success of the cohesive and welcoming department and academy. The role is to start in April 2024 or earlier if possible
Salary: M1 – M6 depending on experience + TLR

• Hold a relevant Teaching qualification
• Have knowledge of teaching Art & Design Technology
• Be able and willing to travel to the Birmingham area
• Have high expectations of yourself in your career and the pupils you teach
