We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer with expertise in GCP (Google Cloud Platform) to join our team on a 6-month initial contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of configuration and documentation tasks, ensuring service delivery meets planned timelines and quality standards. This role is pivotal in supporting the company’s streaming platform and improving data structures and pipelines.

Day to Day of the Role:

• Oversee the engineering team to build and maintain data pipelines and processing services.
• Collaborate with product management teams to understand their data requirements and design solutions to meet these goals.
• Maintain the integrity and functionality of existing data pipelines.
• Recommend and implement service upgrades in line with new GCP features.
• Design and build services with a focus on commonality and scalability.
• Manage changes to tracking specifications based on product and feature team requirements.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical issues and extended office hours support for lower priority issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• In-depth understanding of GCP, its capabilities, and both native and hosted services.
• Experience working within a Scrum framework and using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Proficiency in technologies like Dataflow, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Compute, Memorystore/Redis, and Kafka.
• Programming skills in Java, Python, and Terraform.
• Proven track record of leading engineering teams to build data collection and processing services.
• Ability to manage service upgrades and tracking specifications effectively.
