Job Description
We have a new opportunity for an AWS DevOps Engineer to lead the development and deployment of changes to our AWS environments in an automated first methodology while working closely with solution architects to ensure the integrity and consistency of end to end technology solutions in order to deliver the L&G Strategy, meet requirements and costs. Ensure alignment to Group IT technology strategy and enterprise architecture, policies and standards. In Addition, this person will support Tableau patching and upgrades as necessary.
What you'll be doing
- Ensuring the solutions developed and deployed are fit for purpose and fit for use, meet the business requirements, adhere to quality standards and deliver value within cost constraints. The scope of development involves all areas of AWS including account settings, networking, security and primarily building containers using Docker.
- Helping design and implement the 3 Pillars of DevOps across all of Group Data Operations
- Ensuring all developments follow the agreed change governance and SDLC
- Working with security architecture to ensure all solutions are fully approved
- Providing input into project and resource plans and support business case production.
- Working within an agile methodology framework.
- Overseeing solution development with a focus on utilising Infrastructure as Code and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines ensuring tests covering each development are integrated into our automated test framework.
- Applying knowledge of technology options and survey external market landscape for solution insights, direction, and vendors, as required.
- Identifying issues and risks and lead their resolution as required.
- Identifying and implement opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in existing services.
- Treating Customers Fairly - Ensure that our application estate has core values embedded around ensuring value is provided fairly to all of our customers.
- Degree in appropriate subject preferable or equivalent qualifications or demonstrable evidence of relevant business/work experience at this level.
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional or equivalent experience (3+ years in AWS DevOps role).
- Demonstrable experience of building and maintaining AWS Cloud solutions (essential)
- Demonstrable experience of building and maintaining Tableau (essential)
- CDC and streaming technologies such as Attunity/Qlik Replicate, CR8 or Kafka (Desirable)
- API and Web Services (Desirable)
- Team Leadership
- Requirements gathering and documentation
- Delivering change within a highly regulated environment
- Building containers using Docker
- Building CI and/or CD pipelines using cloud platforms, GitHub Actions, CircleCI or similar.
- Building Containers with Docker on ECS and implementing with Terraform whilst adhering to infrastructure as code principals.
