Ovarian Cancer Action – Community and Events Manager
Location: London Old Street, hybrid working – 40% of time in office.
Salary: Circa. £43k per annum (dependent on experience).
Contract: Permanent, full-time hours but flexibility considered.
Ovarian Cancer Action (OCA), the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity, is seeking a Community and Events Manager to develop and drive successful and innovative mass engagement activities, events and approaches.
The odds are against women with ovarian cancer surviving more than 5 and 10 years. In fact, only 3 in 10 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer live beyond 10 years. OCA find that unacceptable and work to improve survival rates through knowledge, breakthroughs and fairness, with a vision of making ovarian cancer a survivable disease for every woman.
The role will lead on the programming of OCA events and activities and provide excellent stewardship to OCA’s community fundraisers, challenge eventers and wider event participants to drive income, retention, and supporter loyalty in 2024 and beyond. It will also involve project managing and further developing OCA’s flagship event, Walk in Her Name, working closely with the Individual Giving Manager to maximise stewardship, uplift, and lifetime value.
The Community and Events Manager will be an integral part of the Fundraising Management Team, delivering robust financial planning, reporting, and spearheading relevant cross team project work, as well as working with the Director of Fundraising to identify opportunities and tactics to strengthen and grow the portfolio. It will work to deliver against some of the key components and priorities of the mass engagement strategy, championing best practice and excellence across all supporter care and engagement.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing, managing and growing events within the non-profit sector, as well as a creative and insight-led approach to implementing new mass engagement activities. They will have a track record in developing mass supporter-focused content and products that are driven by sector insight and learning, as well as strong project management of delivering in-house and third-party events. Excellent project management, networking and relationship-building skills will be a must, as well as the ability to focus on impact and deliver outstanding results.
Finally, the charity is seeking a professional who shares what all the team at Ovarian Cancer Action cares about: passion, ambition, and commitment to the cause – to always be authentic, to make giant leaps not small steps. People that are open to trying things differently; how they work and when they work (see further details on their Flexible Working approach), people who aren’t afraid of failure and are inspired by the challenge.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, adaptable and enthusiastic manager to make a tangible impact, helping OCA further strengthen and success in its mass engagement activity and focus.
CLOSING DATE: Monday 22nd January, 9am GMT.
