WHAT TO EXPECT


The Electrification Core Engineering team requires experienced Electrical Engineers to apply world class design and analysis skills to improve Jaguar Land Rover's capability to deliver the next generation of HV Power Supply Systems.

 

The objective is to deliver levels of reliability and robustness into the Electric and Hybrid propulsion systems, exceeding anything that we have seen before by using the latest tools and best practice Engineering Techniques.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and Coordinate the Systems Engineering process for HV Systems, generating the artefacts required at L3-4 that fully define the requirements and targets for the HV Systems.
  • Working with the Lead Engineers in the HV system team to define and cascade these to propulsion and energy storage component teams.
  • Analyse, author, review and document system requirements and test cases for the HV Power Supply Systems.
  • Contribute to the Design and Release of multiple HV System Architectures across various Electrified Powertrain programmes.
  • Report status of System Design and Design issues to the Powertrain Programme teams.
  • Lead the implementation of the new Systems Engineering tool chains.
  • Maintain the Systems Engineering Documentation and Storage.
  • Ensure robust timing plans are met to achieve Program milestones and targets (Quality, Cost, Functionality, Weight, and timing).
  • Work with a Statement of Requirements to support supplier sourcing and work with the matched pair through the GSP process.
  • Ensure DFMEA, Design Rules, TRM, Statement of Work process/documents are diligently and transparently implemented in the design condition at the appropriate design maturity gateways.
  • Lead issue resolution (AIMS) and Change Management processes to ensure that all changes are implemented robustly and support programme objectives.
  • Drive the resolution of cross functional technical / manufacturing issues using an Global 8D process
  • Support analysis and implementation of HV Power Supply Sub System and sub components.
  • Coordinate the cascade of requirements and validation test cases


WHAT YOU'LL NEED

 

  • Strong understanding of ESA and Systems requirements engineering and decomposition.
  • Strong skill in requirements authoring
  • A knowledge of typical BEV, MHEV and PHEV system solutions and technologies.
  • Experience of complex high voltage systems.
  • Understanding of control systems hardware, including sensor technology, control software and diagnostics.
  • Experience of defining and/or using appropriate analysis tools to optimise and verify thermal performance and hardware reliability/ durability.
  • Significant experience specifying and designing low voltage, high voltage and control hardware, including a understanding of typical characteristics and protective systems required.
  • Understanding of regulatory needs applicable to BEV and PHEV solutions.
  • A working knowledge of the design and release process
  • Strong people skills and the ability to work individually and in a cross functional team
  • The ability to project manage a design through to production and manage several parts across multiple vehicle programmes
  • Experience of Change Management
  • Working Knowledge of Problem Resolution Techniques e.g. 8D
  • The ability to make effective decisions in the best interest of the business and customer
  • The ability to understand commodity timing plans (including Design Verification plans, programme plans and supplier timing plans)
  • Experience of design FMEA’s
  • Good appreciation of design for the automotive environment.
  • An appreciation of system level issues and software is required
  • Articulate in Systems Engineering process
  • Has delivered at least one System completely onto a transportation vehicle (rail, military or automotive).
