We are looking for a Lead Nurseto join our Cell Collection Centreteam.


Title: Lead Nurse - Cell Collection Centre

Salary: £53,000 - £58,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Hours: 35 per week (standard Anthony Nolan working hours)

Location:Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham


The Cell Collection Centre:

Our pioneering approach to transform the future for our patients, relies on a strong foundation of operational excellence. To continue to deliver the best for patients, we are establishing our very own Anthony Nolan (AN) Cell Collection Centre, specifically for the collection of cell products for transplant and non-transplant use.

As part of our Operations and Patient Services Division, the creation of our AN Cell Collection Centre will enable us to have full control of the end-to-end cell provision process. Working alongside Donor and Transplantation Services, Laboratory Services, Patient Services and Cell and Gene Therapy Service we aim to create a centre of excellence for Cell Collection, ensuring that both donor experience and product delivery are of the highest standard.


This role:

As Lead Nurse you will be an integral part of the establishment of our new AN Cell Collection Centre. Once operational, you will be responsible for all activity at the AN Cell Collection Centre including donor medical examinations, apheresis collections and associated laboratory activity, along with donor coordination and donor experience. You will be responsible for continual education and development of the clinical team, and through an MDT approach, you will establish best practice in our donor care and strive towards our ambitions of creating a centre of excellence.

In partnership with the Research & Innovation Team in the host Trust, you will use your expertise to support research in the field of collecting cell products for transplant and non-transplant purposes.

Essential attributes:

  • A valid 1st level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • A Master’s degree (or working towards) in a relevant subject, or equivalent post-registration professional development, skills and experience
  • Significant, clinical experience and expertise in apheresis at Band 7 or above, specifically in peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) and donor lymphocyte cell (DLC) collections
  • Leadership experience in a healthcare setting
  • Drive to continually improve and evolve services, through education and innovation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Evidence of working autonomously
  • Ability to adapt and flex to changing workloads, manage conflicting priorities, deliver on project plans and work to deadlines
