Are you an experienced Licensing professional looking for a new challenge? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Lead Licensing Officer to join our dynamic Public Protection Service and play a key role in ensuring the safety and compliance of licensed activities within the districts of West Berkshire and Bracknell Forest.
As the Lead Officer Licensing, you will report to the Team Manager - Licensing and be responsible for:
- Managing a diverse caseload of licensing applications, including premises licenses, personal licenses, and temporary event notices
- Conducting thorough investigations and inspections to assess compliance with licensing regulations
- Providing expert advice and guidance to businesses, residents, and other stakeholders on licensing matters
- Collaborating with internal and external partners to promote effective licensing practices and ensure public safety
- Representing the Council at licensing hearings and other relevant forums
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Extensive knowledge of licensing legislation, regulations, and best practices
- Proven experience in processing licensing applications and conducting associated investigations
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and make sound decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
- Effective organisational and time management abilities to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
