The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) are looking for a Learning and Research Support Librarian. In this role, you’ll contribute to the management and development of UKHSA’s Knowledge and Library Services (KLS). Your responsibilities include providing project support to the science and Research functions, implementing health literacy learning interventions, and collaborating with colleagues across UKHSA to enhance research evidence and knowledge services.
You will be based in the Knowledge and Library Services team, working alongside colleagues specialising in Knowledge Management, Knowledge and Evidence, operational library service delivery, Evidence Review and the Research Support and Governance Office. Alongside the Learning and information literacy aspects of the role, you will coordinate project work within the Research, Evidence and Knowledge division, so that best practice and available research and evidence can be readily applied to maximise the impact of our research, knowledge, evidence and evaluation activities.
Location
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) operates a hybrid working model where business needs allow. This provides us with greater flexibility about how and where we work, to get the best from our workforce. As a hybrid worker, you will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of your contractual working hours (approximately 3 days a week pro rata, (averaged over a month) working at one of UKHSA's locations (Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, and London). Specialist or regional roles will be based at the appropriate UKHSA site. For certain roles, some additional flexibility may be possible, which will be agreed upon with the hiring manager based on individual requirements and business needs.

Responsibilities section:
- To contribute to the strategic plans and development of UKHSA Research, Evidence and Knowledge, matrix working across the division, reporting to the Head of Library Services
- To define the fundamental components of a project in terms of its scope, deliverables, time scales, resource requirements and budget. Production of broader plans incorporating risk and quality to provide a consolidated overview of a project.
- To systematically identify, analyse and communicate with stakeholders, using appropriate channels, to ensure all those impacted by the project are engaged, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
- To identify, share and mobilise best practices and lessons learned to create a culture of Learning and good practice that supports continuous improvement to optimise project delivery
- Plan and implement a programme of health and information literacy training, including introductions to evidence-based medicine & practice, research methodologies, finding the evidence, critical appraisal, translation of research into practice, referencing and open access publishing, working with all staff across Research Evidence and Knowledge
- Lead the delivery of the information literacy programme, including one-to-one and group training as required, and facilitation support for cascade of evidence-based skills programmes
- Provision of responses to planned and urgent requests, to consistent professional standards, and in compliance with KLS performance indicators and metrics
- To contribute to the continual review of KLS, undertaking user surveys and audits as necessary, and action planning from the feedback received
- To ensure that KLS activities conform with the principles of Data Protection and Copyright Legislation
- Develop working relationships and communicate regularly with a wide range of individuals, clinical and non-clinical, internal and external to UKHSA.
