Position Overview:
As a Learning Mentor / Pastoral Support you will play a vital role in students' lives by providing them with the emotional, social, and academic support they need to thrive. Working closely with students, teachers, and external agencies, you will be responsible for delivering tailored pastoral care interventions that address the specific needs of each individual.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build positive relationships with students and create a supportive environment where they feel safe and valued.
- Provide one-on-one and group mentoring sessions to address social, emotional, and behavioural issues.
- Support students in developing essential life skills, resilience, and emotional intelligence.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to implement strategies for improving student well-being and academic performance.
- Liaise with external agencies, parents, and carers to coordinate additional support services as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions, ensuring confidentiality and data protection protocols are followed.
Requirements:
- Relevant experience working with young people in a pastoral or support role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize and build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of young people.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility, resilience, and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
- A relevant qualification in counselling, youth work, social work, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
