Step Into Teaching can offer you a position as a Learning Support Assistant, that'll offer you the chance to gain vital classroom experience that will enable you to gain insight into the classroom environment and a career in education. We are currently working with wonderful secondary schools based in Weston-Super-Mare who are looking for a passionate graduate to support their students.
You will be supporting pupils to participate fully in learning the national curriculum, gain their independence whilst assisting general life of the school. You would be paid between £450 - £480 per week and the hours would be full-time term time only (Monday – Friday 8am-4pm). The role is an ASAP start and will continue until July 2024 as a minimum. The oppurtunity might be there to continue in september for the 24/25 academic year.
Job Specification:
- Hold a degree (2:2 or above)
- Have a DBS on the update service (preferred not essential)
- Have strong subject knowledge within English Maths and Science (GCSE A* - C)
- Be passionate about supporting children with their learning
- Be able to keep children engaged and motivated
- Be enthusiastic, friendly and approachable
- Have a commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities
- Be resilient, fast thinking and adaptable to different environments.
- Be able to work effectively in a team
Key responsibilities within the role:
- Assisting students with their learning development, on an individual and group basis
- Providing support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
- Assisting teachers with the maintenance of student records
- Building and maintaining successful relationships with students, whilst treating them with respect and consideration
- Have the highest expectation that every student will make sustained academic and personal progress
