The opportunity:
- Secondary School in Swindon, SN2
- Full-time role, Monday - Friday
- ASAP Start - July, contract can be renewed in September for the 24/25 academic year
- £450 - £490 per week
- Chance to gain invaluable SEN experience before teacher training or studies to become an educational psychologist.
- Potential direct route to teacher training September 2024
The successful Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant must:
- Have a psychology or SEN degree with a 2:2 or above or are predicted to pass this year 2023.
- If not, strong A-Levels in English, Maths or Science
- Be passionate about working with SEN pupils
- Be able to inspire and motive those that need additional support
- Have a good understanding of different needs pupils in a school can have
- Be passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people
- Be creative, friendly, and approachable
- Any previous TA/SEN experience – be that in or out of the classroom - would be advantageous but not essential
Key responsibilities for the role of a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant are:
- Working with specific children that require extra help and target support, depending on their needs
- Leading sessions outside of the classroom with children both 1-1 and small groups
- Planning and resourcing intervention sessions
- Working alongside other professionals to assess children including writing EHCPs
- Working with other teaching staff to design the best strategies to meet a pupil's needs.
