Apple A Day are seeking a full-timeLearning Support Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner colleges in the Swindon area. This is a permanent role with an asap start date.
This innovative college is an inclusive specialist provision for CYP aged 16+ with learning difficulties and/or complex needs.
The settings aim provides a stimulating, learner-centred environment; equipping their learners to be independent by developing life and work skills ready for life after college and their transition to adulthood.
The ideal candidate will be and be an empathetic, patient and flexible individual, who is able to work well within a team and has a natural ability to solve challenges. Candidates will also need physical and emotional resilience to work with young people with a primary diagnosis of Autism, some of whom have other complex needs.
Your Role:
- Providing person centred, day to day support, delivering 1:1, paired and small group teaching, and learner sessions using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
- Support young adults from school to college and beyond
- Supervise and support learners to engage in community-based learning, work experience and educational visits.
- Support learners to develop crucial work and life skills, meet their goals and aspirations through communication, independence and participation.
The ideal candidate will need:
- Model professional communication with children/young people and other adults
- To provide feedback on Leaners participation and achievement
- To undertake and implement training in the use of software and equipment
- Work as part of a team
- Able to ensure Learners participation in the community
- Be highly motivated
- Be able to follow instruction and work independently
