We are seeking to recruit a Lecturer (Education) in Criminology to join the Criminology team at Queen’s University Belfast. This post is designed to cover research leave for eight months for a member of the criminology team (01 October 2024 to 31st May 2025). Furthermore, Queen's University Belfast has a long tradition of excellence in criminology research and teaching, with a focus on youth justice, policing, victimology, international criminology justice, conflict, alcohol and drug use, trauma, and imprisonment. We apply psychological and sociological approaches to better understand the causes of crime, society's responses to crime, and the repercussions of criminal behaviour. Special emphasis is also placed on the topic of whether current crime-fighting strategies are successful or may worsen offending. The successful candidate will teach students across the criminology undergraduate pathways. About the person: The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria: Primary or higher degree in a relevant social science subject. PhD or equivalent awarded or due for completion and to be awarded within one year of taking up post. Evidence of an ability to disseminate research by publishing and/or presenting at criminology conferences commensurate with stage of career. Experience of lecturing and tutoring at University level or equivalent in a relevant social science discipline. Evidence of appropriate administrative experience, commensurate with stage of career.
