Lecturer in Academic Skill Development

£35,340 - £39,752 per annum

37 hours per week

Fixed Term to cover Maternity Leave

1st June 2024 - 1st June 2025

About the Role:

  • The role will entail coordinating and delivering high quality, inclusive workshops within the Achievement Success Centre (ASC) on study and Academic Skills from level three through to seven.
  • You will schedule, deliver, and prepare face to face onsite and online materials to engage students to enable them to achieve on their chosen programme of study.
  • You will liaise with academic subject staff to facilitate delivery of in-module Academic Skill support and identify student development needs.
  • You will lead and/or support projects within ASC Academic Skills support.
  • You will have a real passion for enabling students of all levels and abilities to gain the skills they need to achieve the best they can on their programme of study.
  • You will have high levels of IT skills using MS Office (Word, Excel), Office 365 (MS Forms, OneDrive, Teams) and data analysis capabilities (Using SPSS ideally).
  • You will undertake scholarship and research activities in teaching and learning.
  • 0.6 (3 days) is within the ASC Coordinator and ASC delivery role, 0.4 (2 days) is delivery within subject related modules (ideally sport, but any of our subjects or related disciplines will be considered)

 

About You:

  • Hold a teaching qualification or equivalent.
  • Be highly motivated with a commitment to the highest quality of teaching and learning.
  • You will posses a degree in the relevant subject area, with MSc/PhD/MA being desirable.
  • Supporting higher education programme delivery, you will be highly enthusiastic and professional and have postgraduate experience relevant to Academic Skills and/or in programmes that we offer.
