Job description

We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic EAP lecturer to join our Transnational Education (TNE) team at the University of Reading. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic community with a global outlook and a focus on teaching excellence.

The International Study and Language Institute (ISLI) is one of the Universitys academic Schools and has a longstanding reputation for its expertise in English language teaching and assessment.

As a Lecturer in TNE, you will convene EAP or ESAP modules delivered by the Universitys overseas partners and support new module or programme development as opportunities arise. This role is based in the UK but requires overseas visits (minimum two weeks) once or twice a year. In the first instance, activity will be primarily China-focused.

EAP Lecturers are on teaching-intensive academic contracts, and you may also be required to teach across one or more of ISLIs programme areas: the Academic English Programme (In-Sessional provision), the International Foundation Programme, the Pre-Sessional English programme, professional development courses, the visiting students programme, or the University-wide Global Graduate modules.

You will have:

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification (Applied Linguistics/TESOL/EAP) and ideally a Level 7 teaching qualification (DELTA, DipTESOL, PGCE)
  • Experience teaching EAP or ESAP in UK higher education and ideally an interest in TNE provision
  • Experience of EAP or ESAP course design and delivery
  • Experience of materials development
  • Experience of working effectively and collaboratively within a team

Closing date: 5 April 2024

Interviews will be held: 29 or 30 April 2024
