Lecturer in Marine Legislation and Management
Temporary (Maternity Cover), Full Time 35 hours per week
£35,170 - £43,357 per annum. Candidates holding TQFE will commence on £41,310 per annum.

As part of our commitment to meet and respond quickly to the needs of our students and stakeholders, we wish to appoint individuals to join our team of lecturing staff.

Applicants must have a degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Management or law) or relevant industrial experience and knowledge of the maritime sector (minimum Chief Officer or 2nd Engineer) to contextualise the student experience. Experience of working at sea in a management role is desirable.

The Successful Candidate would be asked to teach and support students in a wide range of subjects; with a focus on Marine Legislation and management in addition to assisting with the development of students transferable skills; particularly IT; leadership and communication. You will maintain all relevant course and learner documentation, along with accurate records of learner attendance and performance. You will objectively evaluate courses and monitor student progress. You will provide advice and support to the students, meeting the needs of a diverse learner population.

Candidates must be passionate about supporting and motivating our students. You must be able to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team. You should possess effective interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate learning to individuals with a variety of learning styles. Experience of teaching is desirable, but not essential.
