Job description

About ARU:

ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields.  We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities.  Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.

About the Role:

The School of Architecture sits within the School of Engineering and the Built Environment which delivers successful undergraduate, post graduate and degree apprenticeship courses. This is an exciting time to join the School of Architecture as we are already delivering a successful BA(Hons) Architecture programme and recently added a new MArch programme. We are seeking to strengthen the existing team by recruiting experienced architects to teach across both undergraduate and postgraduate levels whilst improving the School’s ties with industrial partners.

Join our dynamic team at ARU School of Architecture as a Computational Design Atelier Leader for our esteemed MArch in Architecture Part II programme. We are seeking a passionate educator to lead our students in exploring various subjects such as Computational Design, parametric and algorithmic thinking, generative design, visual programming, digital fabrication and robotics and someone who will have a passion for exploring the intersection of technology and design in architecture.

You will have a degree or relevant professional qualification, a chartered membership of ARB/RIBA or willingness to become chartered within 18 months of employment, and evidence of extensive CPD in architecture, Computational Design and digital fabrication (and/or a higer degree for Senior Lecturer Practitioner role). You'll have relevant and extensive commercial and/or professional experience, excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work co-operatively and as part of a team.

Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Maria Vogiatzaki, Head of School of Architecture, at maria.vogiatzaki@aru.ac.uk or Stephen Mugliston, Deputy Head of School of Engineering and the Built Environment, at stephen.mugliston@aru.ac.uk
