Ledger Manager – Nottingham – £35,000 - £40,000

Chase & Holland are excited to be working with a prestigious college based in the Nottinghamshire area, who are looking for a proactive, hands on Ledger Manager. We are looking for someone who has experience of Purchase and Sales Ledger, who can lead a small team of three people. You will create efficiencies through developing systems and processes, to ensure that the ledgers are consistently up to date, accurate and able to deliver insightful reporting. As the Ledger Manager you will need to be ‘hands on’ in the day-to-day activities of the department. The successful candidate will be an effective line manager with a background of driving change and process improvements in a small team.

Ledger Manager Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for an efficient AP function, that delivers consistent and timely invoice processing, authorisation and payment
  • Month end purchase ledger and creditor reports and reconciliations, including credit cards
  • Identify and develop efficiencies in the existing purchase order through to payment systems along with existing fee invoicing processes, including charging for termly extras
  • Timely reports on budget spend to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure effective and timely communication with creditors to resolve queries
  • Oversee cash and banking transaction processing and reporting
  • Support filing of quarterly VAT returns and reporting
  • Ad hoc reporting, analysis or project work connected to the role and as required by the Head of Finance or the Bursar
  • Ensure complete and accurate fee invoicing through pupil account review and reconciliation.
  • Take a key role in credit control and collection of overdue sales receipts.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Intermediate level knowledge and experience of Excel and Word
  • Relevant experience of either AP or AR
  • Proven experience managing a small team
  • Demonstrable experience of using general ledger, financial accounting and information management systems
  • Experience of the education sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
