As a Marketing Manager - Fundraising and Acquisition (Lotteries and Gaming) you’ll be responsible for leading our in-house team of marketeers responsible for driving mass, new customer acquisition across a portfolio of fundraising products/activities, including our gaming and gambling fundraising activity as well as cash and regular giving activity.
You’ll lead on recruiting new players for our weekly lottery through face-to-face fundraising, delivering inspiring marketing campaigns to increase funding and support of British Heart Foundation's (BHF)'s life-saving research.
You'll manage two face-to-face recruitment agencies, ensuring effective collaboration for acquiring thousands of new lottery players. Additionally, you'll launch face-to-face fundraising initiatives across our retail portfolio, with a strategic focus on stakeholder management to secure buy-in and adoption.
This role offers the opportunity to own BHF's face-to-face recruitment portfolio, with plans to expand operations in the next financial year. Your key responsibilities will be:
- developing face-to-face recruitment campaigns and strategies, overseeing campaign delivery, and monitoring results to recruit thousands of new supporters.
- leading the development, execution, and optimization of multi-million pound, omni-channel marketing and fundraising campaigns, collaborating with our media agency and third-party suppliers.
- managing a multi-million pound budget, strategically allocating resources for maximum impact.
- providing oversight across a fundraising portfolio, ensuring both strategic and tactical delivery and improving customer experiences for mass new customer acquisition and income growth.
- contributing to the BHF integrated media plan, actively engaging in planning and executing marcomms initiatives for effective and impactful results.
Working arrangements
Please note, this is a 12 month fixed-term contract.
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.
At the BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

About You
As our perfect candidate, you'll bring extensive and demonstrable marketing experience of designing, developing, and managing integrated, multi-channel marketing plans and delivering successful commercial outcomes through these i.e., across new customer acquisition and fundraising/income growth.
To excel in this role, you will:
- ideally have knowledge and experience in face-to-face fundraising, including compliance, with a background in charity marketing or direct face-to-face fundraising.
- have previous budget oversight of £1 million+ and experience in monitoring income and expenditure.
- have proven success in a fast-paced marketing team, with excellent interpersonal skills.
- have significant experience in paid media planning and optimization across various channels, particularly digital.
- be highly numerate with excellent planning and project management skills.
- have a full understanding of different marketing approaches and an ability to use marketing to secure support across a broad range of channels.
- preferably have a familiarity with gambling products, experience promoting regulated products, and a nuanced understanding of product and audience motivation for mass fundraising, especially in lotteries.
