Background
We currently have an opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join the team.
The Court of Protection unit is a specialist unit dedicated to dealing with the management of the property and financial affairs together with health and welfare decisions of people who lack the ability to deal with these themselves.
Our Court of Protection deputy works closely with families and carers to ensure that the pressures and additional stresses of looking after the individuals’ personal finances are removed. We ensure that contact and liaison is maintained and decisions taken by us are understood.
The Role
This is a varied role and will involve contact with clients and their families, financial and general administration to include:
- Responding to client and family queries
- Responding to case managers and other professionals
- Arranging for care, facilities and maintenance organisations to visit the client
- Liaising with case managers and care providers
- Maintaining client insurance files
- Dealing with Court of Protection applications
- Opening and maintaining client bank accounts
- Managing credit card statements and reconciliation
- Preparation of management and financial information
- Updating and maintaining the deputy access database, Excel spreadsheets
- Costing files
- Typing letters, memos and reports
- Arranging and ordering various pieces of equipment
This role would suit an organised individual with finance and administration experience coupled with excellent client care.
Strong communication skills and a confident telephone manner are required with the ability to deal with sensitive issues and emotional, vulnerable clients in an empathetic manner.
