Job description

Every great story has a new beginning, and yours starts here.

Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of.

Who We Are…

When we say, “the stuff dreams are made of,” we’re not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD’s vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what’s next…

From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.

Your New Role...

The International Content Distribution legal team provides legal support for the distribution throughout EMEA, LATAM and APAC of Warner Bros., HBO, Discovery and Turner feature films and TV series across physical formats, digital home entertainment, TV distribution (Free TV, Pay TV, Subscription Video on Demand and Free Video on Demand) and the sale of formats and unscripted programming.

The Graduate Intern is required to provide broad support to the legal team’s activities, including the drafting, negotiation, and administration of a wide range of distribution and licensing documents. The Graduate Intern will be entrusted with hands on drafting and negotiation tasks and communicating directly with internal teams and external clients. The role is for a 12-month internship and would ideally suit someone who has completed their LPC or BPTC and wanting to gain experience for their future legal career.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements including license and distribution agreements and supporting documentation, including term sheets, amendments (e.g. extensions), sale and purchase agreements, notice letters and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Creating and maintaining deal summaries and assisting with contract reviews to respond to day-to-day business queries.
  • General commercial legal work, legal research, and support on major projects.
  • Communicate with internal sales, finance and other legal teams and actively participating in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Collaborate and build a network with other interns across the business.
  • Handling multiple tasks with exposure to a wide range of business issues, within the support of an experienced legal team.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • You must be a recent university graduate, having graduated no earlier than July 2022.
  • Completed your LPC or BPTC (or are about to sit your final exams in Summer 2024).
  • Passionate about exploring a career in the legal field.
  • Organised, pro-active and a willingness to participate and learn.
  • Ability to work reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.

The Internship...

  • Salary: £27,000
  • Contract Length: 12 months
  • Start Date: Likely to be 9th September 2024
  • You will gain hands-on experience working on business-critical projects.
  • You will have access to personal and professional development courses, executive speakers’ series, special screenings and more.
  • You will be part of our Early Talent network of over 100 interns & apprentices, meaning you will have an important support network of other students, graduates and apprentices and plenty of opportunities to socialise!

Next Steps…

  • Stage 1: Submit your CV by Sunday 17th March (you will not be able to apply after this date).
  • Stage 2: For eligible candidates, you will be invited to complete a written questionnaire in HireVue. The deadline for this is Sunday 24th March.
  • Stage 3: Pre-recorded video interviews via HireVue will be sent out, to be completed in April.
  • Stage 4: Assessment Centres & Interviews will take place May-June.

Due to the volume of applications we receive we are unable to provide individual feedback, but if you are unsuccessful we will aim to let you know within 6 weeks of the closing date.

How We Get Things Done…

This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done. You can find them at www.wbd.com/guiding-principles/ along with some insights from the team on what they mean and how they show up in their day to day. We hope they resonate with you and look forward to discussing them during your interview.
