Job Description: Legal Secretary
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and organized Legal Secretary to provide administrative support to our legal team. The ideal candidate will have some prior legal experience and the ability to handle a fast-paced work environment. While personal injury experience is beneficial, it is not essential for this position. The Legal Secretary will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the law office by efficiently performing various clerical and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide administrative support to attorneys, paralegals, and legal professionals.
2. Manage and organize legal documents, case files, and correspondence.
3. Assist with drafting and editing legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, contracts, and letters.
4. Schedule and coordinate meetings, court hearings, and depositions.
5. Prepare legal forms and documents for filing with courts and regulatory agencies.
6. Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases.
7. Maintain calendars, prioritize tasks, and track deadlines.
8. Answer phone calls, take messages, and provide general assistance to clients and other parties.
9. Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and email correspondence.
10. Ensure accurate billing and timekeeping records for clients and attorneys.
11. Create and update client databases, ensuring information is relevant and up to date.
12. Assist in the preparation of trial materials, exhibits, and presentations.
13. Collaborate with other legal support staff to ensure the smooth running of the office.
14. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
