Job Title: Patent Secretary

With 6 offices globally their clients range from start-ups, national and international companies, entrepreneurs, governments, universities, and other academic institutions who all rely on their commitment to quality IP advice.
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced full time Legal Secretary specifically with an IP background however not essential to join their team in Reading office, as a Patent Secretary you will play a pivotal role in supporting a number of fee earners across all levels.
Key responsibilities/duties:
- Administrative support: provide high level administrative assistance to fee earners
- Preparing patent applications and other documentation for filing at patent offices
- Review official communications from patent offices and prepare brief reports to clients.
- Use of Espacenet and the various Patent Office websites for searching and downloading patent specifications and correspondence
- Typing correspondence from dictations
- Making amendments to patent specifications using track changes
- Dealing with internal questions and telephone calls
- Preparation of internal forms
- Preparation of billing using an electronic billing system
Essential requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- A ‘can do’ attitude, willingness to learn and expand knowledge and skills, flexibility and a practical/can do approach
- Proven ability to work effectively both as a team player and independently
- Exceptional organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- CIPA qualification is an advantage but not essential (there is the opportunity to study for this qualification)
