Job description

Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of Women Centre.

WomenCentre is working in partnership with Wakefield Council to provide a West Yorkshire Liaison and DiversionDedicated Female Support recovery pathway. The service works to identify, assess and refer women into appropriate support service to address health and social vulnerabilities at the earliest point of contact within the criminal justice system providing gender specific support for women with a view to diverting them away from the criminal justice system and reduce the risk of re-offending.

The post will be based within Kirklees police station with an outreach base within Kirklees WomenCentre.

About WomenCentre

WomenCentre has bases in Calderdale and Kirklees, where we support women to make positive, long-term changes to their lives. We provide high quality services, advice and information, with an emphasis on holistic care of the woman and her family. Our main areas of service delivery are domestic abuse support and women’s health and well-being with our services reaching many women who are at points of crisis: women experiencing acute and chronic mental health difficulties; in contact with the criminal justice system; refugees and asylum seekers; women in poverty; those with drug and alcohol problems; and victims of domestic abuse. Women are supported to take control of their lives and their futures; to plan for their own health and wellbeing; and to build their confidence and ability to cope. Women are encouraged and supported to shape and contribute to the delivery of WomenCentre’s work.

About the Post

The successful applicant will join the Liaison and Division WomenCentre team and will be committed to assessing women with complex vulnerabilities who are involved in the criminal justice system. This will be achieved through strong partnership working with external agencies including the police, courts, and other statutory and voluntary sector organisations. Strong assessment skills and team working is essential in this role as the post holder will provide support for women to access wider mainstream and voluntary sector services across Kirklees.

The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the wider West Yorkshire Liaison and Diversion all age service and will also be required to work weekends on a rota basis (typically 1 in every 4-6 weeks)

WomenCentre is an organisation that promotes safeguarding practice across all our service delivery and staff and volunteer recruitment.
