We are seeking to appoint a Library Assistant to help process a discrete collection of Czech and Slovak material. This is an opportunity to contribute to the work of the Bodleian Libraries by helping to make this important material available to our students and researchers.
You will triage and process the items, and add or enter information in our system or on a spreadsheet to enable the creation of catalogue records. You will carry out physical processing of the material such as adding bookplates, stamps, and security tags. You will be required to handle and move material safely, and keep relevant statistics to chart your progress. The work will mainly be based at our Osney Mead site within our Collections Management team, and you may be required to work at other library locations from time to time in order to assist with collections projects.
You will have a good knowledge of spoken and written English, and either Czech or Slovak. You will be able to undertake routine tasks with care and accuracy, and have experience of structured data entry in an online environment. You will be expected to communicate effectively, confidently and courteously with colleagues, and to work independently without close supervision.
This is a part-time, fixed-term position, working 29.2 hours per week for six months. A job share between two people may be considered, each working 14.6 hours (0.4 FTE) per week. The role is office-based, and you will not be expected to work outside of office hours.
You will be required to upload your CV and a supporting evidence form as part of your online application. Your supporting evidence form should list each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the job description, and explain how you meet each one. Please see below a supporting evidence form for you to use. CV’s alone will not be considered.
