Lancashire Libraries is a vital service that provide spaces where people can feel safe and secure, where generations of all ages can meet freely in a public place and where learning can be encouraged.

Your new role…

We are looking for a strong leader, who is customer focussed and digitally savvy with the skills to manage a team of staff and volunteers. Our ideal person will be welcoming and friendly , have a love for reading and be passionate about sharing this. You will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the confidence to be able to work with a range of partners and volunteers.

You will lead a team in offering a high-quality library and information service and you will manage and supervise the planning and delivery of a diverse range of events and activities, monitoring performance as you go. You will support and encourage customers to access online information and resources, for example accessing free eBooks and newspaper apps or helping someone find reliable information, such as applying for a passport.

Sometimes, you may be required to work at other locations and the role may involve some lone working.

What we can offer you…

Benefits: You will have access to a local government pension, 26 days annual leave, increasing to 32 days after five years (pro rata) plus Bank Holidays. You will also have access to an Employee Assistance Program, a credit union, counselling services, enhancements for working weekend hours, discounts on phone contracts, gym, and lots more!

Development: We really support our teams and encourage them to develop their skills in a supportive and inclusive environment – so there'll be options for additional training, qualifications, and opportunities to progress if you wish – you'll feel valued at work and be part of a team of like-minded people and managers who can provide advice and guidance whilst sharing their experiences and helping you build your own

Inclusivity: We are committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce. Our aim is to ensure that everyone is equally valued and respected, and where individual differences are celebrated. To support this, we would especially welcome applications from those from a diverse background who would enhance our service by joining us and we have some great support groups and forums available that are open to everyone.
