Job description

GLL is looking for two Library Team Leaders to work at Lincoln Central Library in the heart of the historic city of Lincoln.  If you have the skills and ambition to join us as a Library Team Leader, there's never been a more exciting time. This is more than a job, it's a career.

Lincoln Central Library is looking for two Library Team Leaders to work 36 hours per week each, to oversee the day-to-day running of the library. Lincoln Central Library is the largest and busiest of the core libraries run by GLL in Lincolnshire, giving access to a wide variety of collections and resources including books, local history materials, technology and a busy children’s library. As a Library Team Leader you will work with the Library Manager to supervise and support the frontline team to deliver, improve and promote services throughout the local community, whether it’s our valued existing users or widening the offering to a new group of customers.

As well as delivering frontline library services you’ll work with the team to devise and deliver a wide and exciting range of activities including reading groups, IT support sessions, adult and children’s craft activities and children’s story and rhyme time sessions. You’ll also connect with a variety of local organisations to help them benefit from all the library offers - all of which has a ‘ripple effect’ on engagement and the building of community connections.

What you need:

*         Excellent understanding and experience of all library operations

*         Understanding of stock management and development

*         Strong people supervision and leadership skills

*         Excellent ICT knowledge

*         The ability to identify the needs of the community for the library

*         Excellent customer service standards.

*         Knowledge of safeguarding

*         Effective time management skills

*         Passion and personality

What you’ll do:

*         Take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the library

*         Work with the Library Manager to expand the library’s usage

*         Supervise, support and develop frontline team members

*         Oversee stock and undertake general administration including rota’s, room hire and cash handling and banking

*         Support the Library Manager to ensure the safety and security of the building

*         Planning, promoting and delivering activities such as Rhyme Time and Reading Groups

*         Build and develop good relationships with local contacts and partnerships to both enhance the service and ensure the library is an integral part of the community.
