Job Title: Local Network Technician
Salary: Up to £28,000
Job Purpose:
This position involves split responsibilities across one secondary school and three primary schools, with an anticipated one-day-per-week presence at each primary school. The remaining two days will be spent at Bishop Milner Catholic College. The Local Network Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the computer systems within the academy, delivering high-quality technical support to all users. Additionally, the role involves collaboration with the Local Network Manager and Central Network Manager on ongoing projects across the academy.
The incumbent is expected to provide an efficient, effective, and compliant service, upholding the highest standards. Flexibility, a positive attitude, and adherence to honesty, confidentiality, and integrity are essential qualities for this role.
Key Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:
- Monitor the ICT ticketing system and provide progress updates to users.
- Maintain Apple & Windows-based desktops/laptops/tablets.
- Manage printers and photocopiers throughout each school (PaperCut).
- Regularly inspect ICT suites, device trolleys, and classrooms to identify faults or damage, preventing downtime.
- Clean projector filters and printers.
- Replace printer consumables (toners, drum units, fusers, etc.).
- Diagnose and repair hardware and software faults with laptops, desktops, printers, and tablet devices.
- Install operating systems and software.
- Install, maintain, and provide ongoing support for projectors, interactive whiteboards, interactive displays, and speaker systems.
- Ensure backups (Veeam) are taken.
- Support and update the internal WiFi at each site (Unify).
- Deploy new equipment throughout each school, including PCs, laptops, tablets, monitors, speakers, printers, keyboards, mice, scanners, projectors, interactive whiteboards, network switches, and wireless access points.
- Manage the recycling of old equipment, ensuring disposal procedures are followed and data removed.
- Update ICT asset registers.
- Coordinate the delivery of new equipment, providing relevant paperwork to the finance team and updating records on the ICT asset register.
- Liaise with third-party suppliers regarding warranty issues or support contracts.
- Provide ICT support to the Exams Officer during the Summer results period.
