Job description

About us

Hackney is one of Britain’s most exciting and fastest-changing and diverse boroughs. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. The challenges that have arisen over the last two years have intensified the need for action and we are determined to rebuild Hackney for, and with, our diverse communities.

At the heart of this vision, our Housing with Care schemes provide care and support to people across Hackney. With a focus on independence and quality of life enhancement. We work with people aged 55 plus, providing accommodation they can call their own home plus the care and support they need to live independently.

About the role

As a Locality Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our residents can rely on access to safe, secure housing, and an excellent standard of care and support. Working in a multi-disciplinary, cross departmental capacity, you’ll manage a team of scheme managers, providing clear leadership and direction, and ensuring that each member of your team has what they need to deliver the best possible care and support to people across Hackney. From training and development to interpersonal support, assisting with complex assessments to boosting team morale. You will be key to the growth and evolution of the service.

Through direct supervision and close communication with both internal and external stakeholders and services, you will take a people-first approach, prioritising improvement and helping to instill a culture within your team that values care, compassion and progress.

About you

An established professional with experience in the Health and Social Care sector, you’ll have substantial experience of working to the Care Quality Commission regulations and standards. With demonstrable evidence of developing a performance-oriented approach and culture. You will have worked within multi-agency teams and be confident communicating with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the Council and beyond. You will be capable of supporting the Registered managers in managing a large budget, and of carrying out assessments for service users.

You will be a creative and flexible problem solver with excellent influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Most importantly, you’ll be a person who is passionate about improving outcomes for people in need of care and support.

This role is an opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives and will be hugely rewarding to the right candidate. There are excellent benefits, unrivalled team support, and the opportunity to develop and progress in a vibrant and dynamic environment that is committed to seeing you thrive.

Applicants must be available and willing to take part out of hours on-call rota. Additionally, some working outside of traditional business hours will be required.

Please note, an Enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

There is no better place to work in London than Hackney; we have great pride in our borough, our communities, and our services. Hackney is one of London’s most vibrant and diverse boroughs. It’s one of the most sought-after areas to live in London with good schools, parks and local amenities, as well as great transport links and vibrant and diverse communities.

If you want to work in a place where you can represent our values, so we achieve the best for our residents, please click on the apply button below.

The recruitment process is anonymous. Therefore, we do not accept supporting statements or CVs.

When applying, there will be a number of questions relating to the post on the application form. It is essential that you complete the application questions, responding to each using examples of your skills, knowledge and experience.

Closing date for applications – 26 May 2024 (22.59).

Interview date – TBC.

We are working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved. In order to achieve this, we look for people who are: Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.

Hackney Council works to eradicate discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy and maternity, age and marital status. We also recognise that people can be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will also work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class. We also welcome those interested in flexible working. We particularly welcome applications from disabled people, as this group is currently underrepresented in our workforce.

The Council has a dedicated employment support service (Hackney Works), which offers Hackney residents guidance in relation to applying for jobs. If you are thinking about applying for a job, please contact the Hackney Works team to find out what support is available: hackneyworks@hackney.gov.uk
