Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Logistics Coordinator to join Newberry International Produce Ltd.

Newberry International Produce is a key supplier to the Manufacturing, Retail, and Food Service sectors in many countries. We import and export products to, and from, all over the world and this is an exciting time to join the team as our customer and supplier base expands.

Roles and Responsibilities:

·Supporting the entire logistics activity within the company for goods movement from end to end both in the UK and Internationally.

·Working to strict deadlines and being able to plan ahead the collections and deliveries of Groupage, Part and Full Load consignments utilising Road, Sea and Air modes of transport on a global basis.

·Liaising with customers and suppliers to ensure that all imports and exports are dealt with efficiently.

·Processing of shipping paperwork, including packing lists, import & export documentation and commercial invoices.

·Liaising with both internal departments, and external parties such as courier companies and freight forwarders.

·Overseeing the shipping of UK and Global export-controlled components.

·Collaborating with regulatory authorities such as HMRC to ensure full compliance with all regulations.

·Handling VAT and duty on the importation of goods, including Inward Processing Relief, duty deferment etc.

·Maintaining accurate records of all export control activities.

·Become the in-house ‘expert’ on Tariff Codes and changes in legislation that affect logistics.

·Negotiating and arranging booking times with our shipping partners and coldstores whilst keeping a strong professional relationship with them to ensure we get the best service during difficult times.

·Receipting all stock that has been transported by the logistics team into the relevant coldstores

·Creating Standard Operating Procedures for the logistics team to comply with and set a high standard within your department.

·General administration across all import/ export areas and other departments where required.

Key Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Previous export logistics experience within a manufacturing company.
  • Excellent understanding of import/export processes.
  • Experience with commercial invoices, packing lists and certificates of origin (eCert and manufacturer’s own).
  • Understanding of all certificates of shipment, bills of lading and tariff codes etc
  • Knowledge of HMRC requirements on Duty and HTC
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate directly with suppliers and identify and maximise opportunities to increase both efficiency and profit.
  • IT skills especially Microsoft Excel, Word
  • Excellent communication skills (Written & Verbal)
  • Strong organisational skills with an excellent memory.
  • A confident personality with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • A professional, positive, and helpful attitude to work colleagues, suppliers and especially customers.
  • Ambitious with a desire to succeed.
  • Presentable, energetic, and enthusiastic.
