About our client:
Join our dynamic client, a global leader in the supply chain and manufacturing industry. They are seeking a skilled and experienced Logistics Manager to oversee the downward supply chain, ensuring seamless shipping of products to customers worldwide.
Key Performance Indicators:
* On-time delivery of goods
* % of shipping expenditure to revenue
* Machine delivery cost by market - budget vs actual
* Compliance with International Export/Import legislation
* Business process improvements aligned with the functional business plan
* Compliance with organizational policies and procedures
* Completion of appraisals and development plans for direct reports
Key Accountabilities:
* Manage approved carriers to meet or exceed customer delivery expectations
* Ensure compliance with legislation and regulative requirements for shipping, import, and export
* Develop and manage the logistics team, setting objectives and ensuring world-class performance
* Implement alternative market strategies to improve service to customers
* Develop and execute a functional business plan for Logistics, driving continuous improvement
* Manage relevant information systems, department, and freight cost budgets
* Collaborate with Health and Safety team to ensure compliance
* Prioritise and pre-plan shipments in alignment with the master production schedule
* Oversee logistics/shipping activities, ensuring compliance with health & safety/COSHH requirements
* Manage the processing of sales orders, despatch, and shipping documentation
* Maintain supplier relationships for import and export services
* Collaborate with sales and customer service to manage client relationships and address delivery complaints
* Monitor customer feedback and maintain high levels of customer service
* Drive continuous improvement in department and cross-functional business processes
* Coordinate with planning, supply chain management, and finance for budget and forecast creation
* Maintain relevant information systems in computer database records and paper systems
Person Specification:
Essential:
* 5 GCSEs (A-C grade or equivalent) including Maths & English
* Current driving licence
* Recognised qualification in export/import
* Recognised qualification in team leadership or management (e.g., ILM Level 3 Leadership & Management)
* Proven experience of managing people in an international export/import position
Desirable:
* Experience using Business Systems
* Work experience in a manufacturing environment
* Proficiency in oral and written Spanish, French, and/or Italian
Skills:
* Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
* Business finance understanding and budget management
* Commercial awareness and excellent communication skills
* Knowledge of customs compliance and industry IT tools/systems
