Job description

Hours: 7 hours and 55 minutes per week, term time only. Monday to Friday, 11:45am – 1:20pm.
Salary: Hay 13 (£4,079 per annum).
At St Mary’s, we believe that play is an essential part of the school day and vital to every child’s development: to build confidence, to problem solve and to learn how to interact and relate to others. Therefore, we are seeking to appoint a committed, reliable and enthusiastic member to our Play Team; someone who is passionate about working (and playing!) directly with children, ensuring that our pupils are happy and safe at all times.

The successful candidate will:
• To supervise and support pupils’ play during lunchtime.
• To initiate and lead play activities with pupils, recommending new games and activities.
• To administer first aid where appropriate.
• To respond to any behaviour concerns in line with the school’s Behaviour Policy.
• To communicate effectively with the Play Team, class staff and Senior Team.
• To promote positive behaviour and constructive play at all times.
• To support pupils while eating their lunch, cutting up food as required, ensuring table manners are maintained and ensuring tables are cleaned and put away.
• Promote a sociable and happy environment
• To support and encourage the children to develop good table manners
• To develop children’s independence in using cutlery.
• To initiate creative play and games and through this teach social skills, communication skills and model how to be safe when playing.Closing Date: Wednesday 31st January 2024
The school is committed to safeguarding children and young people, and all staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment. All appointments will be subject to appropriate vetting, including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
