Maintenance Assistants |NHS | Cheltenham & Gloucester | Salary £22,383
Our NHS client is seeking Maintenance Assistants to carry out unsupervised work of a routine nature to assist in the provision of an efficient maintenance service and to support technicians and craftsmen in the carrying out of skilled work to service and maintain plant and equipment.
Responsibilities:
·To assist all trades as may be required and to have a flexible approach on trade boundaries
·Carrying out general un-skilled maintenance tasks to include general house-keeping of plant rooms and workshops
·To have the ability to diagnose faults on minor jobs
·Carrying out general building maintenance tasks to include inspecting, clearing and unblocking drains, gutters and gulley’s
·Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks to include assisting with fire alarm testing, emergency light checks, generator testing, ventilation/ air handling checks plus others as determined by the workshop manager
·Carrying out water management control tasks in accordance with HTM04 and ACoP L8 compliance to include weekly timed temperature checks, quarterly shower head/hose replacements, thermostatic mixing valve checks etc.
·Purchasing and collecting materials from local suppliers
·To assist with lift entrapments in order to safely release patients, staff or visitors from lifts.
Skills, experience
Applicants will require a minimum of 3 GCSE's including Maths and English and hold a full driving licence
·To be competent to work on a range of duties which encompass various trades and skills but do not need the attention of a fully qualified craftsman or technician.
·To be competent in safely using a range of tools to include hand and power tools.
·To understand and be able to comply with relevant statutory, Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
·To attend training courses as necessary to improve working skills and practice.
·To have a basic working knowledge and understanding of electrical/ mechanical plant and building services.
·Must have a sound understanding and awareness of the importance of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 etc and its importance
