My client is a long-standing industry manufacturer of Chemical products that takes pride in investing in their site and changing to meet their customer's needs. They are looking for a seasoned Maintenance Engineer who can hit the ground running by maintaining and repairing plant and machinery by general fitting, machining, pneumatics and electrical support.
The Role - Maintenance Engineer
- Responsible for repairing and maintaining production and ancillary equipment,
property, and facilities to minimise downtime and align with the production process
and planning requirements
- Performing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks, maintaining accurate
maintenance records, and completing data entry within timeframes
- Acting as the point of contact for contractors on-site, ensuring all necessary
documentation is completed, and safe working practices are established before
work begins.
- Collaborating with production teams to enhance their understanding and proficiency
with equipment
- Identifying issues, and conducting root cause analysis to prevent a
recurrence
- Adhering to policies and procedures in line with the site quality management system
and retailer-specific technical standards
- Actively participating in health and safety practices, identifying hazards and risks,
and ensuring compliance with all health and safety procedures and safe working
practices
- When trained, will be on an out of hours Call-out rota which is remunerated
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Maintenance Engineer
- Is an experienced Maintenance Engineer with a mechanical bias
- Previous experience in factory/manufacturing environments or similar fast-moving
consumer goods (FMCG) industries
- Apprenticeship/City & Guilds Level 3 in mechanical engineering with some electrical
knowledge
- Proficient in working with pneumatic controls and interpreting pneumatic schematic
drawings
- Skilled in Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Strong understanding of various engineering functions and procedures
- Excellent team collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and
cooperate with colleagues at all levels
- Advanced diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills paired with logical thinking for effective problem
solving
- Driven by enthusiasm, commitment, and a strong desire to achieve success
