Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity to expand our team and are currently looking for a Maintenance Team Leader to join our Commercial and Industrial division, based at our site in Lostock, Bolton.

The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for managing and leading a team of employees, communicating company goals, safety practices and deadlines to the team, whilst working closely with the Production Managers.

To be successful in this role you'll need the ability to show leadership, take responsibility and be assertive. The ability to plan work and set targets for the team.

You'll need to have previous knowledge of the day to day running in a steel fabrication environment, and you'll need to have appropriate trade/operational training and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Motivating team members and assessing performance and providing training for team members based on needs of the team.
  • Ensure that all team members adhere to health and Safety regulations and work in a safe and efficient way and that all safety instructions and safe working practices are being followed
  • Ensure that all team members work in a way to maximise outputs and quality in a cost-effective manner in accordance with laid down targets.
  • You'll be delivering toolbox talks to employees and contractors as an when necessary, and ensure that all PPE is available, used and maintained by employees and keep a record of issues and maintenance where appropriate.
  • Meet all legislative and compliance requirements
  • Be able to prioritise own and others work - standard maintenance and breakdown maintenance
  • Ensure clear communication with relevant people – contractors on site, machine down time
  • In times of holiday/sickness to be point of contact for External audits (HSE/KPMG)
  • To be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance in accordance with planned downtime
  • To respond to breakdowns in a timely and safe manner
  • To be responsible for isolating machinery from Production colleagues and re-commissioning for use when correctly repaired,
  • To lead operation procedures
  • To be responsible for on-site contractors and apprentice safety

Experience and key skills required:

  • General educational background
  • NVQ level 3 in Engineering or time served with either electrical or mechanical qualification.
  • 18th Edition electrical qualification
  • Have a background in electrical/mechanical maintenance in a similar role in the same sector to understand the mechanics of the machinery, to be familiar with the working environment and conditions.
  • Be well versed in electronics to understand how the different machines function
  • Min of 5 years’ experience in a maintenance engineering/leading role within a manufacturing environment using similar equipment
  • People Management experience would be beneficial

Hours of work are Monday - Thursday 7.00 - 17.30 with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break each day. Friday 7.00 - 12.00
