Why your role matters
We are recruiting for a highly driven accountant with strong attention to detail, who enjoys getting involved with the business to provide insightful, accurate and reliable reporting and analysis to take ownership for reporting and analysing financial activity for the SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority) division of WorkNest, and act as a finance subject matter expert across the wider business. The SRA business contributes c.15% of revenue to the WorkNest results and incorporates 3 legal entities.
What you’ll be doing
As Management Accountant, your role involves developing a thorough understanding of the business and its influencing factors. You will collaborate closely with the SRA, SLT team, taking on the responsibility of offering financial support and critical assessment of business activities, commercial decisions, and projects as needed. Your tasks will include reconciling and analysing transactional data in the ERP system (Xero) to guarantee the accuracy and completeness of figures in the P&L and balance sheet. You will be tasked with generating various reports, preparing management accounts, conducting comprehensive actual-to-budget and prior-year variance analyses, and providing detailed commentary on significant variances for submission to both WorkNest and Marlowe Plc management. Additionally, you will be responsible for compiling budget and forecasting information for SRA businesses, ensuring that appropriate challenges are applied to budget owners. This role also involves the management of both direct and indirect reports who offer finance transactional support.
About you
The Management Accountant will be qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or someone in the advanced stages of qualification, coupled with substantial experience. Ideally, a minimum of 3 years' experience in a comparable position, demonstrating the capability to interact with individuals at various levels of seniority, think strategically, and effectively manage competing priorities. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to engage and collaborate with colleagues outside the Finance department, fostering partnerships and driving positive change.
