Management Accountant (Capital Investment)

Location: Blaina, Blaenau Gwent, NP13 3JW

Salary: £38,222 per annum

With more than 280 people trained and dedicated to their job, they’re a big employer in the area, and they’re looking for a Head of Property Services to join their team on a Permanent basis.

The Role

  • To support the Senior Finance Business Partner and Head of Finance in managing the company’s Capital Investment Programme, ensuring efficient and effective management, and recording of components, costs, cashflows, depreciation and impairment.
  • To provide financial support to the organisation and to assist the Head of Finance with the delivery of an efficient and effective strategic finance function and delivery of the Finance Operational Plan.

As a Management Accountant, you’ll take ownership in:

  • Playing a key role in the delivery of the Finance Operational Plan, their financial strategy which integrates with the Asset Management Strategic Approach and their financial strategy which supports the Corporate Plan and departmental strategic objectives
  • Partnering with the Assets Directorate to support effective financial management of the Investment Programme and to provide real-time financial information to support decision-making.
  • Managing the Fixed Asset and Component Accounting Function ensuring compliance with Tai Calon Accounting Policies.
  • Creating and maintaining a robust system of controls, procedures, and forms for recording fixed assets in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring accurate treatment of VAT.
  • Recommending updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
  • Preparing detailed Monthly Management Accounts in a timely manner.
  • Preparing detailed budgets for the forthcoming year and the Medium-Term Financial Plan in partnership with relevant budget holders ensuring supporting documentation is provided.
  • Supporting the year-end closing of the financial system.
  • Supporting the preparation of the Financial Statements including preparation of working papers and information for audit in line with agreed timescales.
  • Liaising with Internal and External Audit
  • Preparing information for external stakeholders such as but not limited to House Mark Data.
  • Ensuring compliance with Financial Regulations and Standing Orders by implementing and assisting in the review of effective systems of internal control.
  • Supporting the ongoing development of finance software and associated reporting tools.
  • Being a proactive member of the Strategic Finance Team demonstrating continuous improvement and compliance and driving value for money across the organisation.
  • Assisting in the delivery of Improved financial and commercial skills of staff within the finance team and across the business.  

Skills and Qualifications

Educated to level 4 of the National Qualification Framework for England, Wales, and Northern Ireland

Part qualified accountant or technician qualification

Open Accounts financial system (or similar)

Experience within a similar role of similar responsibilities

Experience of management accounts preparation, interpreting accounts and advising budget holders

Advanced user of using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
