Job Description
  • JOB TITLE: Manager, Content
  • LOCATIONS: Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, London, Birmingham or Halifax
  • SALARY: £56,421 - £74,290 (salary may vary on location)
  • HOURS: Full Time
  • WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site.

The Colleague Communication & Experience team has been set up to rethink how best we support strategic business delivery and cultural transformation through simpler, more targeted and consistent end to end colleague communications and experiences.

With so much content for colleagues to consume across the organisation, the team has an important role to make sure the right messages reach the right people at the right time.
The content manager role is about crafting the stories that bring to life our narrative through creative, impactful and engaging content.
The role reports into the Head of Campaigns & Storytelling and works closely with senior and assistant managers in the team as well as the communications and creative experts across the Group Corporate Affairs function.
What we need from you!
  • Drives storytelling by proactively finding and telling stories which support the organisation as it transforms.
  • Is a content expert, crafting creative, engaging content across a range of channels for a diverse variety of audience groups.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with people and teams across GCA and the wider business to ensure content is planned and delivered effectively, supporting the coordination of messages and working effectively with the channel delivery team.
  • Leads the content requirements for complex projects, announcements and changes.
  • Challenges constructively, driving real purpose to communicate and helping to reduce the noise for our audiences.
  • Delivers improvements in tone, language and volume, and helps to educate our networks of communicators.
  • Collaborates with our in-house creative team (and external suppliers when needed) to develop high-quality, creative and inclusive communications and event content.
  • Continuously develops and grows by pursuing and investing in personal development opportunities.
  • Uses measurement and feedback to understand the impact of communication and use the findings to test, learn and adapt to influence future communications.
  • Establishes and maintains effective networks of contacts with communicators across the business.

What we’re looking for!
  • An expert communicator and collaborator, able to deliver impactful communications through a range of channels including internal intranet, video, scripts and events.
  • An outstanding copywriter, able to adapt style depending on the audience, channel and desired communications outcomes.
  • Has an eye for a great story, cutting through complexity, crafting clear, succinct and engaging messages.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of audience and keen to explore and grasp the opportunities arising from emerging communications trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
  • A passion to adopt and inspire change and continuous improvement by being bold, flexible and innovative.
  • A commercial mindset committed to driving return on investment and seeking efficiencies and impact in all that we do.
  • Proactive ownership of individual and team performance, taking accountability for collective success and taking pride in supporting the change we want to see in the organisation.
  • Understands the communications landscape, collaborating with expert channel and support teams within Group Corporate Affairs and, where required, external partners to deliver outstanding, inclusive and accessible communications.
  • Ability to work at pace in an agile tech-enabled environment.
  • Trusted to handle confidential material and apply insight / data-based judgement.
  • Experience in Financial Services, Fintech or Insurance desired but not essential.
