My client are a leader in fluid engineering and chemical processing applications and they are currently looking for a Manual Machinist to join their team due to expansion within the business.
They are looking for a Manual Machinist to join their dynamic team at their state-of-the-art workshop in Southampton. Equipped for the comprehensive overhaul and repair of diverse rotating machinery.
As a Manual Machinist, you'll play a key role in operating a variety of lathes, turning centres, and borers, as well as carrying out basic mechanical fitting work.
Responsibilities include:
- Operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, machining centres, borers, and grinders, to machine parts to specified standards.
- Apply metal spray processes using specialised equipment to finish worn or defective parts in mechanical rotating equipment.
- Inspect completed components for defects, conducting measurements and tests to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Set up, adjust, and operate turning and machining centres, as well as other machining tools, for precise machining operations.
Manual Machinist Position Requirements
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Holds a recognised Mechanical engineering apprenticeship, City and Guilds qualification, or equivalent.
- Experienced in working with various types of mechanical rotating equipment, including electrical motor components.
- Demonstrable track record in a mechanical (electrical) workshop environment.
- Preferred experience in dismantling and assembling motors, gearboxes, and pumps.
- A valid driving license is advantageous.
