Job Title: Manual Machinist
Basingstoke
Reporting to: Machine Shop Supervisor
7.00am - 4.00pm Monday - Thursday
7.00am - 12.00 mid-day Friady
Role Objective:
To manufacture machined components as specified in drawings and manufacturing work
instructions whilst employing good, safe and efficient manufacturing practices for the
timely production of parts.
Key Responsibilities:
Machining of various materials including: stainless steel, mild steel, phosphor
bronze, PTFE, various plastics and others materials as requested
Use of various machinery and equipment as requested, such as lathes (including
large centre lathe), mills, radial drills & large horizontal borer which are
predominantly manual.
Translate drawn requirements into manufactured components efficiently
Work to written manufacturing instructions
Administrate as requested in support of quality, production and cost controls
Liaise with other machinists to ensure optimum production
Cleaning of machinery as and when required
Maintenance of cutting tools as required
Manufacture of minor components that requires a make to suit approach
Make jigs and fixtures as required to aid machining
Maintain at all times an appropriate level of good housekeeping and cleanliness
Skills & Experience:
Ideally time served, with at least 5 years’ machine and or tool making experience
Conversant in reading engineering drawings and work instructions
Proficient in the use and calibration of measuring equipment
Educational Qualifications:
Minimum academic level required:
City & Guilds / B-Tech First Certificate / NVQ L2
