We have an opportunity for a Marketing Manager to join the GatewayC team for a 12-month period to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to work on an ambitious, expanding team.

This person will lead the marketing and account management functions of GatewayC, whilst ensuring the existing communications strategy is implemented appropriately and we continue to increase the reach and engagement of the resource.
Strong team and financial management are essential, along with good decision-making and exceptional senior stakeholder engagement.
You’ll have a keen eye for detail and will be able to solve problems quickly and effectively, whilst delegating tasks to the wider team appropriately.
We are looking for someone to support the Programme Lead with the continued successful rollout of GatewayC across England, Wales and Scotland and to also work effectively alongside GatewayC’s Education Manager.
To be successful in this role you will need to have the confidence to manage multiple workstreams at a fast pace, whilst ensuring the education we produce continues to be delivered to a high quality and evaluated effectively.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

• Line manager for Account Manager (Band 6) and Digital Manager (Band 6).
• Manage and lead the wider marketing team.
• Develop, implement and evaluate innovative, well targeted, high quality marketing initiatives that support GatewayC in its strategic and operational objectives.
• Provide a strategic view to our stakeholders from a marketing and comms perspective. Create effective communication plans across each nation and review and adapt appropriately.
• Provide KPIs to the marketing team on both an annual and quarterly basis (including the digital manager, account manager and communications officer) ensuring targets are met/ exceeded.
• Review monthly and quarterly digital marketing reports to ensure metrics such as website traffic, engagement rate, conversation rate, ROI, SEO, and customer lifetime value are met.
• Final sign off on all copy, ensuring TOV is on brand and content is relevant.
• Maintain – and improve where necessary – an effective corporate brand style and GatewayC identity, ensuring that all marketing materials produced are to a consistent and high standard and meet both NHS guidelines and GatewayC’s requirements.
• Develop effective partnership working with other GatewayC colleagues and stakeholders to ensure integrated marketing activity.
• Establish and develop the account management service for all Cancer Alliances in NHS England.
• Provide quarterly comms updates to our external stakeholders.
• To lead the production of Marketing Insight Reports to ensure that the governance and reporting requirements are met and that the reports comply with best practice.
• To lead the delivery of GatewayC events as required including conferences, events etc.
• Liaise with relevant external suppliers to expand GatewayC’s photo and video library and ensure a diverse range of high quality, relevant and up-to-date photographs are available for a wide range of uses.
• Develop innovative ways in which marketing involvement can be improved and encouraged between all stakeholders, using recognised tools and techniques.
• To research, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication and engagement campaigns.
• Managerial / leadership (including financial / physical resources and staffing)
• To contribute to the development and implementation of the marketing plan, ensuring effective planning, clarity and good timing so that all stakeholders across England receive clear, unambiguous messages at the right times.
• To commission a range of marketing services to deliver marketing objectives. This will include managing and building relationships with external agencies, specialising in advertising, design, market research, events, exhibitions and conferences.
• To work closely with colleagues across the GatewayC Programme to ensure marketing activity is integrated effectively in the work of the programme.
• To support a wide range of staff and partners to develop their skills and understanding of the role of marketing.
• To provide guidance and advice to managers and other staff on all aspects of GatewayC’s corporate identity, to maintain and protect it.
• Provide marketing support and advice to the development of all externally facing information to ensure the production of high-quality materials that promote confidence in GatewayC.
• To manage annual marketing budget and individual campaign budgets effectively, always ensuring value for money.
• Produce regular reports on communication and marketing activities for senior managers and other stakeholders.
• Responsible for working with partner organisations as required, including Cancer Alliances and PCNs, to ensure a consistent approach.
• To research evidence of good practice from other areas / sectors. To keep informed with the latest developments and good practice in digital and physical marketing and healthcare communication.
• Lead on research projects to show the effectiveness of GatewayC across all nations. Work with external research providers and manage this process and share the results with our stakeholders.
Communication
• To ensure all stakeholders, internal and external, are consulted and kept informed of marketing developments.
• Support Programme Lead with senior level stakeholder engagement across NHS England, HEIW, NES, CRUK and other relevant organisations.
• To liaise with the communications team to ensure media coverage of activities and the timely and effective dispatch of campaign materials.
Learning and development
• To identify and attend relevant marketing communications courses / conferences.
General
• To supervise paid staff or volunteers recruited to assist with the above tasks to ensure they are adequately briefed and encouraged.
• To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post to help with the spreading of the workload and smooth running of the programme.
