Job Description

Experienced Material Controller / Coordinator required to join global manufacturer based in Plymouth. The successful candidate will be required to maintain stock of spare parts, manage backorders, and ensure excellent customer relations. Your ability to optimise spare parts storage, track procurement, and negotiate with suppliers will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimise spare parts storage with respect to usable life and storage space constraints.
  • Update part availability to attain zero stock out of parts.
  • Track procurement receipt, handling, and storage of operation spares and materials.
  • Maintain minimum/maximum stock levels at all times.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure adherence to agreed storage conditions and preservation routines.
  • Assist in handling obsolescence and improving usable part life.
  • Track parts consumption and update planning dynamically.
  • Carry out cycle counting based on criticality, parts consumption, and parts value.

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Candidate Attributes Required:

  • Previous experience working as a Material Controller within either Engineering or Manufacturing.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical parts, understanding of engineering principals.
  • Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams
  • Proactive and decisive teammate with good interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in English.

Beneficial Experience / Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Engineering would be highly advantageous but not essential.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings is an advantage.

The successful candidate will be working office hours of Monday to Friday – 08:30am to 16:30pm.
