We have an opportunity for an experienced Material Planner to work for a large multinational Manufacturing and Engineering company at one of their sites based in Daventry.
You will be reporting to the Materials Supervisor and will be responsible for ensuring that all materials are available to pick request in warehouse and that you meet or exceed the inventory inventory targets. You will also be required to communicate any problems with parts or suppliers as soon as these arise.
Your general responsibilities will be as follows;
- Set & maintain planning parameters which support the business environment
- Liaise with suppliers in regards to on time delivery/part availability
- Communicate known problems upwards to supervision & management
- Develop inventory profile for all parts under planner control
- Ensure appropriate use of Oracle tools responding to all workbench exceptions within the permitted timescales
- Use of measurement tools for inventory/supply base effectiveness
- Maintenance of Oracle safety stock levels as business dictates
- Manage the process for parts under deviation
- Control the process for parts which have had short ship notes raised
- Develop improvement programmes with all key suppliers - inventory, on time delivery, lead times, batch sizes etc
- Work to eliminate discrepant material arriving at the warehouse
- Manage the allocation of supply between production & service & highlighting areas of constraint
- Liaise with goods receiving & warehouse re supply of urgent parts
- Be the front line person on liaison with the supplier & any supplier improvements required
- Support phase in/phase out of supplier resources
You must have the following skills and experience
- Planning experience required
- Good communication skills
- Good Excel skills
- IT literate (MS office)
- Excellent organisational & prioritisation abilities
- Logistics/material flow background is a plus Knowledge on MRP planning systems is a plus
- Oracle experience not required however would be an advantage
You will be working 37.5 hour per week between the parameters of 7.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday. This is a hybrid role where you will be required to be on-site for 2 days per week.
The position is a Temporary role initially until July.
