Role: Materials Planner
Location: Wellingborough
Hours Of Work: Monday-Thursday 8am-4:30pm, Friday 8am-1:30pm (Flexibility required)
Basic Salary: £32,000 per annum.

Job Purpose:
- Delivery of a customer-focused service, whilst meeting all Health & Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale targets.
- To ensure the right material and consumables arrive at the right time, before the point of assembly fit / despatch.
- To work within the framework provided to reduce & challenge inventory levels and ensure no obsolete stock when introducing engineering changes.
- To work proactively within a culture of problem solving and continuous improvement, to drive Hendrickson forward.
Job Responsibilities:
- Effective analysis of customer demand, MRP management and order placement (Purchase Orders / Schedules) on the supply base, in order to meet customer requirements, whilst maintaining profitability
- Ensure effective expediting of raw materials, components and sub-contract operations from designated vendors, to ensure on-time delivery to customers
- Monitor inventory levels against agreed target levels. Proactively Escalate issues and concerns to management
- Identification & communication of supply shortfalls and ensure mitigation is in place to minimise effects on manufacturing
- Liaise with other personnel across the Hendrickson group as necessary to ensure the successful production and transportation of goods whilst ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled
- To process all stock and non-stock purchase orders in accordance with departmental procedures, ensuring all orders are properly authorised and are entered against correct GL codes. All purchase orders requiring allocations to be processed correctly
- To process discreet orders in a timely manner and to manage customer schedules in accordance with departmental procedures and work instructions
- Effective management of transport costs
- Identify, monitor & resolve process gaps
- Manage, monitor and provide solutions for the Excess Material process
- To support customer run-down and other obsolescence control initiatives
- To support business initiatives to reduce and control costs generated by the materials function
- Monitor the operational performance of the customs brokers / Freight Forwarders
- Provide up-to-date analysis and reports illustrating Supplier and business performance and forecasts to support business initiatives
- Use problem-solving tools & techniques to Investigate causes of deviation from process
- Carry out reasonable additional responsibilities as requested by the Company
Key Skills Required:
Essential:
- Extensive experience in a Material control role
- Good understanding of MRP and other material planning systems
- Project management skills, including the ability to produce and work to timing plans
- Understanding of modern material control processes
- Excellent analytical skills
- Well organised, with excellent communication skills
- Be able to take responsibility for resolution of issues
- Be self-motivated and results-oriented
- Possess good analytical skills and have the ability to think creatively
- Be able to work under pressure and to time constraints, and use own initiative to solve problems
Desirable:
- HND or equivalent
- Knowledge of Oracle based management system preferred but can be given training
