We are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our development team to play an active role in the design, prototyping and testing of the next generation of products and technologies, as well as the continual improvement of existing product lines. These will include products such as Gas Chromatographs, Chromatography Detectors, handheld accessories, and robotic sample handling equipment.
The role will offer an excellent opportunity for a suitable candidate to develop their skills and grow their role within the development team. They will work in a small team alongside, software, electronics and applications engineers that will report directly to senior management. It will suite a candidate that enjoys seeing a project through from start to completion and seeing the positive effect the technology they have helped develop can have on a customers’ business, people and the world at large.
The Candidate should ideally have the following capabilities
· Experience of designing mechanical parts and assemblies in 3d CAD (We use Solid works)
· Ability to work as parts of a team and individually
· Ability to produce technical drawings and exploded views, for other departments and suppliers.
· A good knowledge of physics particularly thermodynamics and fluid mechanics would be beneficial.
· An understanding of Electronics and Software systems and how they will interface with the Mechanical Design.
· An attention to detail to ensure our products are to the high standards expected by our customers.
· An understanding of commercial requirements of design and ability to keep to budgets.
· Be comfortable to present ideas and colleagues and management.
The Role will be based at our headquarter in Ely Cambridgeshire.
