Mechanical Design Engineer

An established manufacturing company based in Coleshill, Birmingham requires an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer.

Duties:

• Review existing products and revise drawings to reflect the latest designs and methods of manufacture.
• Develop new products under the guidance of the management of the company.
• Manage projects from receipt of order to despatch whilst ensuring projects are delivered to the agreed timeline with the customer and in line with allocated budgets.
• Generation of models / assemblies and associated manufacturing / assembly drawings required for the project, modifying standard drawings as required and seeing the items through the manufacturing stages to customers FAT and beyond where necessary.
• Generate and maintain bills of materials (Project specific and standard builds).
• Produce documentation to the industry standard for products and projects.
• Source / purchase required components from suppliers.
• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers.
• Providing technical assistance to sales / marketing where necessary.

Requirements:

• Graduate level mechanical engineer or equivalent with several years’ experience in designing and project managing equipment manufacture.(Non-graduate designers who can otherwise demonstrate a successful background in design work will also be considered.)
• Be competent in Solidworks 3D design package or similar packages.
• Be familiar with drawing office procedures and standards and able to install systems as appropriate to maintain these. (The company is ISO 9001 registered.)
• Be familiar with Sage or similar accounts packages.

Hours:

• 8.30am to 5pm  Monday to Friday (30 mins lunch.)

This is a permanent position that starts immediately.
