They will work on New Product Development projects within the R&D pillar of the Innovation function. The role plays a key part in device development for all new product development projects. Embrace the challenge and be a catalyst for success in a constantly evolving environment.Key AccountabilitiesWorking within a team of Mechanical Development Engineers to develop and deliver prototypes and technical solutions for innovation projects including. Technical expert in mechanical engineering for development and technology projects to deliver against design brief and functional performance.Developing innovative concepts to solve engineering challenges.Managing the prototype design, iterative development, and testing activities to validate these concepts leveraging the capabilities of the team (mechanical engineers and technicians)Work closely with multifunctional counterparts (Marketing/Category, MSC, Quality and Regulatory) to deliver fit for purpose propositions (Consumer, Cost, Scalability) and ensure technical requirements are clearly understood.Develop strong relationships with suppliers to enable access to newest technologies and facilitate prototype production and scale up to full production.Work with Partners to provide innovative concept generation to solve engineering challenges.Liaise with external suppliers for prototype production and scale up to full production. Mentor Mechanical Engineers within the team to help build internal skills/capabilities. SKILLS & EXPERIENCEEssential BEng/MEng in Mech. Engineering (or equivalent)Very good English language skillsMultiple full product developments completed (full lifecycle).Significant experience in product development.Excellent knowledge/experience of manufacturing processes (injection moulding, stamping, extrusion)High level of competence in planning and risk mitigation with large/critical R&D projectsExperience in material selection given the products environment (temperature, chemical, appearance)Excellent at concept generation – finding innovative solutions to engineering problems.High level of competence in planning and risk mitigationDFMEA knowledge and ability to create for new designs with cross-functional team.Experience in IP generation to provide the legal team with enough information to protect your idea.3D design experience, able to use SolidWorks (or similar software) to create innovative concepts to address engineering challenges.2D design experience Experience in checking and approving engineering drawings for mass manufactureUnderstanding of GDT, tolerance stack analysis, and process capability (CPK, PPK)Knowledge of manufacturing general tolerances (injection moulding, elastomer, and stamping) Desirable In depth knowledge/experience of high volume injection moulded componentsExperience in Mechanical Development of consumer products or medical devicesEffective communicator capable of managing and collaborating with internal and external partners.SolidWorks experienceWhat we OfferCompetitive salary, bonus scheme, pension, and 25 days holiday + bank holidays (with an additional 4 days on top to cover the Christmas period), corporate discounts, Health Cash Plan, and other wellbeing initiatives.
