Mechanical Estimator - 2135578

My client is a medium sized M&E contractor based in the Midlands and they are looking for a Mechanical Estimator to join their team. This role offers plenty of flexibility and working from home.

Some of the key responsibilities you will undertake are:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Analysis:

• Reviewing project specifications, blueprints, and other documents to understand the scope of work.
• Identifying mechanical components such as HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), plumbing, and piping systems.

1. Cost Estimation:

• Calculating material, labor, and equipment costs for mechanical systems.
• Considering factors such as market prices, supplier quotes, and historical data.

1. Bid Preparation:

• Preparing detailed cost proposals for submission to clients or project managers.
• Collaborating with other estimators, engineers, and project managers to ensure comprehensive bids.

1. Vendor and Supplier Coordination:

• Soliciting and evaluating quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Negotiating prices and terms with vendors to obtain the best value.

1. Project Scheduling:

• Developing timelines for the installation of mechanical systems.
• Coordinating with other trades to ensure smooth project progression.

1. Risk Assessment:

• Identifying potential risks related to cost, time, and technical challenges.
• Developing strategies to mitigate identified risks.

1. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintaining detailed records of estimates, quotes, and contracts.
• Providing regular updates and reports to project stakeholders.

Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse technical documents and perform detailed calculations.
• Attention to Detail: Ensuring all aspects of the project are considered and accurately estimated.
• Communication Skills: Clear communication with clients, suppliers, and team members.
• Software Proficiency: Familiarity with estimating software
