Job description

Package: Permanent. Full Time 35 hours per week. 28 days Annual Leave plus Bank Holidays, Employee Assistance Helpline, Life Assurance. Voluntary Benefits: Group Pension Plan, Cycle to Work Scheme, Charity Worker Discounts.

Are you ready for an exciting career where you'll not only make a difference, but also manage media relations at high-profile events and work on some of the most important moments in the National calendar?

Lead the charge in shaping the public image of the Royal British Legion as the National Public Relations Manager. Take the helm in overseeing the daily operations of our National PR team, ensuring they are aligned with the strategic objectives set by the Head of PR. Collaborate with the management team to craft coordinated, strategic approaches that contribute to the wider organisational goals of the Royal British Legion.

Come and be part of the largest Armed Forces charity, making a difference to the lives of those who have served to keep us safe and PRotect our way of life.

In this pivotal role, you will manage the National PR Team, setting priorities, evaluating progress, and ensuring a consistent focus on advancing the organisation's objectives. Navigate the complexities of the media landscape, negotiating and influencing senior journalists to both reactively protect and PRoactively enhance the reputation of our esteemed charity. Provide guidance to spokespeople, forge media partnerships, and maintain strong stakeholder relations at the national level.

This isn't just a PR position; it's an opportunity to play a key role in delivering impactful media events, from campaign launches to engagements with celebrities. Your qualifications should include a degree-level qualification or equivalent practical experience, coupled with recognised professional certifications in internal communications, journalism, English, or PR at a senior level.

Demonstrate your proven experience in national media relations, ability to formulate effective communication strategies, and passion for developing and managing staff within a national organisation. If you're adept at developing media plans, presenting information clearly to diverse audiences, and fostering strong interpersonal and team working skills, join us in a role that offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our impactful mission.

Here at RBL, we aim to support our people and their wellbeing, with a package including generous paid holiday allowance and pension scheme contributions, and a range of optional benefits and discounts.

You will be contracted to our London Hub, Haig House. Under our Future Working framework, there will be some flexibility for working remotely/at home, using our collaboration tools to work with colleagues, but with a minimum expectation of two days/week connecting directly face-to-face with colleagues at the hub

For more detailed information about the role, please see our Vacancy Information Pack attached to our direct advert.

RBL is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive organisation, reflecting the diversity of the armed forces community and of wider society. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and personal characteristics.

We may close this vacancy early if we believe we have enough strong applications to be able to successfully fill the role(s). Interested candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
